Man Ray Avant Garde Collection
www.worldcinemaonline.com
This collection of shorts contains all the films directed solely by the surrealist Dada master Man Ray. With Bunuel, Dali and Duchamp, Man Ray was instrumental in pushing film's acceptance as an artistic medium. These films, shot in the 1920's, mark an enormous leap towards the conceptual and away from the newsreel footage of the Lumiere brothers and the narrative mastery of Griffith. Although indisputably surreal, looking back, the films seem very innocent - surprising given the outrage their frank sexuality caused in their day. Nevertheless, they remain a true part of film (and art) history.
Unfortunately its not free but worth it to have in your collection.
