I refer to my current research as a fusion of art, athletics, and healing which focuses on confronting and controlling the build up of tension, pressure, and stress during difficult and painful situations. In an attempt to challenge the audience and their interpretation of art, I am continuously exploring different methods of documenting the events that happen in the environments I create.

Originally, I am from Fremont, California where I graduated from Irvington High School in 1992. After graduating, I left the Bay Area in search of a four year adventure in the United States Marine Corps. During this time, I served as a Communication Center Operator and had the opportunity to visit many locations throughout the East Pacific. In 1996, I finished my enlistment at El Toro Air Station and proceeded to enter the civilian world.

In 2000, while working as an Emergency Dispatcher, I was diagnosed with a very aggressive type of testicular cancer that had spread into my abdomen. After months of treatment and recovery, I made the decision to pursue a degree in health studies. This decision eventually led me to the great “cold” state of Montana, where I received an athletic scholarship to attend Rocky Mountain College in Billings. While pursuing my undergraduate degree at Rocky, I earned an Academic All-Conference Award for the 2004 football season and was introduced to the healing power of art by Professor Neil Jussila. In 2006, I earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Health and Physical Education and was accepted into the Master of Fine Arts program at Boise State University.
