Maldives was magical in every way. Yet this video came out. from some dark corner of my mind? unease feeling. found this tree at pasta point every surfers' heaven this place of perfect lefts.
gave me a creepy feeling. kept at video... then noticed these ugly monster engines pumping out black filth. i realised that i was part of the blame. me the tourist. the continual bombarding of the islands- the sun worshippers... only way for them to keep up the demand for airconditioned rooms, hairdryers... electricity fans etc...
the Maldives is greatly threatened by global warming - we only have to check out footage from Discovery or go online and do a wee bit of research.
is there a better solution? I think some islands are moving in the right direction. some are not there yet.
we found exactly one giant fruit bat... due to pesticide spraying? the men in masks that spray every evening... the tourists look the other way.
anyway - not trying to be negative. the atolls are a dream, i long that they will survive always and not become a paradise lost

ok now the trick is to add part 2. what's that?
well i dunno i not dun it yet. but i have this thought stuk in my head.
i made "escape 1" on memory - we visit a place/ what do we recall?... what have we retained. a short work on selective memory.
then i sit. sit sit. in front of the finished work projected on the big screen. why?
cos then and now.
how to make a multi layered video -
? no really. how does the image change/ the memory transmute? if i use the existing footage of the "escape" vid clip and then add me sitting there. it runs behind me right? like a memory does/ off to one side doing its thing in a head space.
but the difference? interaction - does the memory remain the same if you are viewing it? what i "see" and what the video "shows" - the reality of me sitting there in front of the screen. yet even that reality is changed - metamorphosis due to technology - reality mutated...
i sit. i think. i am. but the video is then past tense... i was sitting... i was there...but can you see the thoughts in my head.
ooh maybe i will have to get into this live transmission thing.

part 2 escape

the trick is to run the video escape 1 - on a big screen duh... but it is day and the light is too strong drat. so how do i get good day footage of me sitting in front of the projected video 1 so that i can produce video 2?
now that is the question. night. project in the dark then i get what? no cant. get shadow. vid 1 will be visible bright but i will fade to shadow.

then video day footage. mad chick sittin in front of empty projector doing her thing. ie performing? thinking. solitary motion/less.
