Written by Perpetual Art Machine

Here's the Line up for the [PAM] Cinema-Scope Special Programs for Scope Miami 2006.

Please visit the following link for information on Scope Miami - there are many events including a Scope shuttle to help get you around South Beach during the fairs : http://www.scope-art.com

Lastly, before the madness starts (Lee, Raphaele, and Arron are working like dogs in Miami right now) we just wanted to say that our last call for work was our most impressive yet in terms of the number and quality of submissions . Along with a good numbers of members new and old who sent work electronically we reviewed and accepted 285 new videos by mail. The collection of video art in the [PAM] installation is now close to 1000 works from almost 500 different artists.

Rules of Engagement
Curated by Lee Wells / IFAC

Dec 7 to 10th - time place : Everywhere You Want to be in South Beach.

For a second year the Guerrilla Media Vehicle takes to the streets of Miami to spread the words and images of socially aware international artists in a program of new video art. Stretching the boundaries and definitions of contemporary video in a mobile format that brings the art to the people in a beautiful yet confrontational way.

--- 6:40 pm - I Regress : Curated by Christina Vassallo

Employing the zaniness of psychedelia or evoking the nostalgia of childhood references, the artists in this video program construct all-encompassing experiences that provide a respite from reality. From the flash animation of Motomichi's "Walk" and "Drops" to the fantastical journey of Hooliganship's "Adventure," the selected works remind us of the charming beauty of our own inner monologues, but also the disappointment that stems from comparing them with reality.

--- 7:20 pm -Monica Duncan: Video Work : Curated by Aaron Miller

Monica Duncan is an emerging video, performance, and installation artist with an impressive and diverse body of work. Since receiving her undergraduate degree from The School of Art and Design at Alfred University in 2002, Monica has performed and exhibited her work internationally including: the Albright-Knox Gallery, ZKM, and a recent performance with Pauline Oliveros. This program represents some of Duncan's most interesting single-channel video from the past three years including “Hundred Hand’s” and “Female Communications” (with Annie Langan), which were created at the Experimental Television Center. In these videos Duncan mixes body and technology through unique image processing techniques. Duncan creates a space where the process and content are inseparable. “Video Paintings,” a collaboration with Lara Odell, shows another side of Duncan’s work that is focused on composition and color. These vignettes use the real world as a canvas while camouflaging their bodies into the mundane social stage.
