DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS: Friday, May 29, 2009

The Houston Arts Alliance and City of Houston Convention & Entertainment Facilities Department request artists to submit short film and video works for presentation on multiple 42” flat screen monitors throughout the George R. Brown Convention Center (GRBCC). The selected artworks will be purchased for the City of Houston’s civic art collection.

Selection Criteria - A distinguished art selection panel will select video works that:
•    Possess high artistic merit;
•    Complement the energy of the Convention Center site and Houston’s downtown;
•    Do not use a sound track;
•    Are of duration between 30 to 240 seconds;
•    Are suitable for viewing by all ages.

This new film and video collection will reflect and enhance the excitement and liveliness experienced by visitors to the GRBCC.  It will be shown intermittently on seventeen 42” flat screens placed throughout the convention center.  Please note: GRBCC flat screens also periodically display client and Convention Center content.

Eligibility - This opportunity is open to professional artists living and working in the United States.
