TV's are a thing of the past anyway.
The new internet will bring us whatever we want to see and things we had no idea of.

The REAL Hurricane Katrina Situation (3 months later)
This is a brief video highlighting my recent trip to Bay St. Louis, MS (ground zero for the hurricane). While the media focused mostly on New Orleans, they overlooked the most devasted areas (including BSL).
I recently spent a week down there doing volunteer cleanup with a non-profit group called DISASTER CORPS (www.disastercorps.org). These are the nicest, most generous people you will ever meet.
Not only are they doing the dirty work that the government is failing to do for our own citizens, but they do it out of the kindness of their hearts. They don't get paid, don't get thanked, they live in tents outdoors, and deal with some of the most disasterous conditions you can imagine... on a daily basis.
This video is not much, but hopefully it will motivate a few people to donate to groups like this... or even motivate some to go down and help.

If they had the internet they probably could have found a better solution to their problem.
Some people are so stupid.
The Exploding Whale!
Florence Oregon - Nov. 12th, 1970
A dead whale lands on the beach, and has to be removed by the Oregon Highway Division. The OHD uses Dynamite, hoping to blast the whale into tiny pieces for the seagulls to eat, and to blow the rest into the sea. Using 1 ton of TNT, they blast the whale straight up and out, and parts of the whale are landing on cars about 1 mile away. Much of the whale remains at the blast site, and has to be bulldozed into the sand.

I just wasn't nerd enough back then.
My teacher told us to be sure to know how to paint and draw if you want to be an artist but we should probably keep up with computers too, they might come in handy. The only computers in my high school was in the art room. I spent a lot of time there. The scanner built into the printer helped us make some pretty convincing fake ids.
Dan Ingalls: Object-Oriented Programming

Lecture about OOP given by Smalltalk Developer
Even in our days, where object-oriented programming is widely accepted, it is still not very well understood by most people. Here's a summary of the lecture, given by Dan Ingal (who worked in Alan Kay's Smalltalk group):
*State-of-the-art: Procedures and data structures
*Architecture problems faced by structured programming.
*Message system of Smalltalk for invoking methods of an object.
*Inheritance and polymorphism
*Automatic storage management (garbage collector).
*Examples, how applying OO makes development easier (GUI, compiler, debugger).
*Exception Handling
At the end, Dan Ingal is interviewed by David Ungar (Assistant Professor, Stanford, Computer Systems Lab).

While I was still using my mom's computer and Windows Movie Maker, I was limited to picture slideshow videos. So one day, I was bored and decided to make this video, which turned out ok, not great, but ok. I think it is just kinda funny. Man Ray Avant Garde Collection
www.worldcinemaonline.com
This collection of shorts contains all the films directed solely by the surrealist Dada master Man Ray. With Bunuel, Dali and Duchamp, Man Ray was instrumental in pushing film's acceptance as an artistic medium. These films, shot in the 1920's, mark an enormous leap towards the conceptual and away from the newsreel footage of the Lumiere brothers and the narrative mastery of Griffith. Although indisputably surreal, looking back, the films seem very innocent - surprising given the outrage their frank sexuality caused in their day. Nevertheless, they remain a true part of film (and art) history.
Unfortunately its not free but worth it to have in your collection.
