I Am The Very Model of a Psychopharmacologist
"I Am The Very Model of a Psychopharmacologist" is a music video created by Millie Niss based her adaptation of Tom Lehrer's "The Elements" (itself a version of a Gilbert and Sullivan song "I Am The Very Model of a Modern Major General") that lists psychotropic drugs instead of elements. Elana Shneyer plays the hapless consumer in the video, and the song is performed by Michael Szpakowski. The video shows an increasingly wacky progression of side effects as the protagonist takes more and more psychiatric drugs. While not meant to condemn medications for mental illness entirely, the video highlights the dangers of overprescription and polypharmacy in current psychiatry.
