Jessica Lauretti is a filmmaker and musician based in New York City. She has a background in social issue documentary as well as conceptual self portraits. Her previous documentary projects include small family farms struggling in America, language access in health care and children of incarcerated parents. Her experimental films are largely shot on super 8 and have screened at SCOPE NYC with the Perpetual Art Machine, as well as several NYC galleries and venues.
She plays drums and sings in the family folk duo, This Frontier Needs Heroes, with her brother Brad. She is also the acting film curator at Dam, Stuhltrager Gallery in Williamsburg Brooklyn, where she has curated several film / video and music shows.
She has taught film, video and photography for the American Museum of the Moving Image, School of Visual Arts, City Parks Foundation, Nantucket Film Festival and the Young Women’s Leadership Foundation of Astoria. She is currently working as a video instructor in an after school program for teens in the Lower East Side of Manhattan.
