John Tomlinson taught drawing in the Parsons The New School for Design Fine Arts Program for 20 years.
He is director of the New York Studio Program of the
36-school Association of Independent Colleges of Art and Design in DUMBO, Brooklyn.
He lives in Manhattan
and has a house and studio in the Delaware River Highlands in
New York State where he is active
artistically and in the community.
His one-person show in New York, at the Painting Center, "small
gestures / MODES OF ESCAPE", was reviewed in the New York Times.
He presented "small gestures MODES OF
ESCAPE", an extensive digital video of "drawings in motion" and musical
compositions, with 2 episodes entitled "Go to Your Room" and "Run", at
the DIGit Media Arts Exposition in Narrowsburg, NY, in August 2006. It
