Transitions

My work reflects the constant transition that is

my own life, which is part of the total process

of changes, movement and development that suppose

our pass in space and time. Today more than

before, people around the world are moving

constantly…. exchanging not only material things,

but culture; creating new mixed realities and

exploring new ways of communication.

Nothing reflects better this process

than our own creativity. Our present

time is complex and full of

contradictions, and art expression is

for many people (me included) a

social, cultural and political

compromise. Creation in the present

days is a constant process where

Information adapts and modified the

central idea. To be understand, to be

a nexus of communication. We are

living the beginning of the big

changes era and sometimes is

difficult to be patient, or to try to

explain with words how the reality of

the future seems like nowadays.

Looking to the past, testing

identities, history, others

histories, others life… ideas…

information and more information.

We are constantly constructing and

reconstructing our future and our

cultural legacy as a more unified

sense of diversities.

Performance is perhaps the

discipline through we can

approach to a more intimate

dimension to the work of Alvaro

Arrosamena. A complex

combination of projects which

interacts different disciplines

to create that he calls

“communication experiences “

These experiences combine

installations, performance,

multimedia and even rituals,

happenings or workshops. In the

interaction the human body and

the spiritual are placed in a

spatial temporal context, which

is it reflective of social,

political and cultural, or even

of personal, religious or

psychological issues. These

results in a variety of

multimedia artworks which

integrates with the performance

as a motor, creating a more

complex project, sometimes as a

studio activity and some others

as performative activities,

interventions or happenings .

The implications of the

interplay between body and space

in their diverse manifestations,

gives foundation to the

production of these “projects”

where Arrosamena arrives to

transmit a kind of sacred occult

message and make us participants

of legendary expressions with

spiritual and human contexts.
