Natasha Marin
is a conceptual artist and poet obsessed with liminal spaces,
especially those that are difficult to render. Currently, she is
bridging the gap by working with stateside and international
intra-genre artists. Her latest collaboration involves creating
multimedia adaptations of her work with local and international artists for a grant-funded project entitled "Graduate-Level Graffiti: Lost in Translation." Her poetry has appeared in several
journals including Feminist Studies Journal, The International Poetry Review, and The Caribbean Writer.
Austin, Texas – Local and international artists, poets, musicians,
and performers will be coming together on Sunday, April 13, 2008 at the Asian
American Cultural Center in Austin to add their talent and expertise to this
year’s Graduate-Level Graffiti event.
Lost
in Translation is the third in
a series of interactive community arts events designed by University of Texas
alum, Natasha Marin. As the title suggests, this installation event will focus
on the theme of translation. Participating artists will use a variety of media
and technology to explore how language can be used to bring together a diverse
group of people in an environment where everyone, regardless of socio-economic background
or education, can communicate through the process of art-making.
