Barry Vacker teaches media, cultural, and utopian theory atTemple University, Philadelphia.

Most recently, Barry wrote the text for the book SIGNS (Hatje Cantz 2008), a collection of photos by theGerman photographer Peter Granser.

Barry also wrote the essay "Slugging Nothing," which is included in the anthology You Do Not Talk About Fight Club (Benbella Press 2008).

Barry also completed Zero Conditions (Theory Vortex 2008), the first book in the "Theory Zero" series.

Barry wrote and directed the experimental documentary film Space Times Square (2007). Festival screenings:
