Cathleen Grado is a multi-disiplinary artist living in Queens, NY. Working in two dimensional media and experimental non narrative film, she often collaborates in live audio performances. These often involve her multiple projections of transparent layers of film footage and slide projections, as well as experiments in video feedback. She also creates audio collages for these pieces, utilizing pre-recorded antiquated material along with new original music and field recordings. She enjoys using old film and audio equipment so as to not be bound by the limitations of technology. Her two dimensional pieces range from large oils to drawn collages using carbon paper, ink, and pencil. Her work is influenced by the contrasts of natural environments and distractive technologies; the subsequent loss of silence and solitude. |
