Additional Comments:

Myexperiments in video and photography responded to a series of visits that I didto the sugar factories throughout all of Puerto Rico in the year 2002. Thoseoff spaces, according to the French Anthropologist Marc Augé, are lost of thecollective memory, lost in our files, lack of life and without a surprise areresidues of boiling Industrial era. These spaces are places that invite me toinitiate a new conversation with a contemporary point of view that deals withthe theme of the residue and excesses, between the homogenous and heterogenicthings. These spaces and off spaces are two false polarities. They arepalimpsests in which the aspects of the place identity are rewritten one timeand another. These places are transformed in charged spaces of the historyeffects. For this reason, I took these spaces to make a reflection andaesthetizise this forgotten site. These spaces become habitable spaces from non-habitable spaces partingfrom the point of view of the residue.

Video Submissions
Title of Submission 1: La Machine qui Trottera
Subititle 1: Machine
Author of Title 1: Myritza Castillo
Title 1 Publication Date: 06-13-06
Title 1 lenght: 3:00 minutes
Title 1 Description: In the video, La Machine qui Trottera different contrasts of the city, accelerated life and repeats a series of scenes between the cities of Madrid and Berlin are explored. These cities, in a certain way, are fusion to become one big metropolis. With this work, I have the necessity to make sense to the present and past. The saturation of images, information and events corresponded to the period of overmodernity that the excesses of things without importance and function are the principal modality. The machine in these videos is going to produce all these things. Spaces intervened by me to be worked out from the point of view of the experience, residue and the effects of the post-industrial era.
Title 1 Keywords: Machine, City, Security Cameras
Subtitle 2: Things of Gravity
Author of Title 2: Myritza Castillo
Title 2 Publication Date: 05-01-07
Title 2 length: 2:00 minutes
Ttitle 2 Description: Things of Gravity is a study of the impossibility to pierce or go through things in reality. In some way the video works with the difficulties to break the Law of Gravity of things that is govern by Newton Physics Law. The physical activity (exercise) that the principal character in the video is trying to perform is a clear example of that. Things fall under the pressure of gravity and so life is and the political issues that involve our own existence.
Ttitle 2 Keywords: gravity, existence, things, pressure, impossibility
